Nationally Recognized Expert on Government Cybersecurity to Speak at Atlanta Government Technology Event in February

ATLANTA (Jan. 16, 2011) – Paul Williams, one of the country’s foremost experts on network security design, will be the keynote speaker at the Technology Association of Georgia’s (TAG) Government Technology society event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Feb. 13, 2012 at the Georgia Tech Research Institute in downtown Atlanta.

Williams, Executive Director of Security Services at White Badger Security Inc., located in Breinigsville, Pa., will provide a “real world” view of the professional hacker and the difficulty government agencies have in stopping hacker attacks during the event in room 119A at the research institute’s offices at 250 14th St. NW.

“We are very pleased to have Paul kick-off our 2012 program, especially with the marked increase of government agency hacker attacks over the past couple of years,” said Irving Corrales, senior industry consultant, state and local government at IBM and chairperson of the TAG Government Technology society. “With more than 35 years of experience in cyber security, Paul will give us an insider’s view of the professional hacker’s mind.”

According to a report by the federal Office of Budget and Management, cyber attacks on federal government agencies were up 40 percent from 30,000 in 2009 to 42,000 in 2010. Last year, the hacker group LulzSec took credit for bringing down the homepage of the Central Intelligence Agency and hacking the network of an Atlanta-based affiliate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Prior to joining White Badger Security, Williams served as the Chief Technology Officer at three companies: International Shield, Inc., Houston; Gray Hat Research Corporation, Houston; and Galaxy CSI in Washington, DC. A licensed private investigator in the state ofTexas, Williams is certified by the National Security Agency in InfoSEC assessment and evaluation methodologies.

The mission of the TAG Government Technology society is to make information technology deliver more efficient government services to citizens and communities against a backdrop of limited resources.
